Introduction
These terms govern your use of gritmaps.com and the Gritmaps service. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.
Beta Service
Gritmaps is currently in pre-release beta. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Features may change, be removed, or become temporarily unavailable without notice. We do not guarantee uptime, accuracy of route suggestions, or fitness of the service for any particular purpose.
Riding Safely
Read this one. Gritmaps generates routes automatically from public map data, and that data is incomplete and sometimes wrong. A suggested route may include roads that are closed, private, under construction, unlit, unsuitable for your bike, or simply unsafe. We do not check them. You ride at your own risk: obey traffic law, judge conditions for yourself, and turn around when a road looks wrong. Do not operate your phone or head unit while riding. Training intensities are suggestions, not medical advice — if you have a health condition, talk to a doctor before following them.
Your Account
You must be at least 16 to use Gritmaps. Use one account per person, give accurate details, and keep your sign-in credentials to yourself — anything done through your account is your responsibility. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has access.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to: use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the service; use anyone else's Garmin or Strava credentials; attempt to interfere with the service's operation or its rate limits; reverse engineer the service; or use it for any unlawful purpose.
Garmin, Strava and Wahoo
Connecting Garmin Connect, Strava or Wahoo is optional, and your use of those services stays governed by their own terms. None of them is affiliated with Gritmaps, sponsors it or endorses it. They may change or withdraw access at any time, which can stop parts of Gritmaps from working through no fault of ours.
Intellectual Property
The Gritmaps name, logo, website design, and underlying technology are owned by Gritmaps. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute any part of the service without our written permission. The workouts, routes and ride data you put into Gritmaps remain yours; you grant us only the permission needed to run the service for you.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It forms part of these terms.
Ending Your Account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Doing so erases it and its data immediately and permanently; see the Privacy Policy for the details. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gritmaps shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. The service is provided free of charge during the beta period, and our total liability is limited to zero. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Swiss law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by Swiss law. Any disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the service develops. We will update the date at the top, and tell you by email or in the app when a change materially affects you. Continuing to use Gritmaps after a change means you accept it.
